Participants attend a 70-hour internship preparation "Boot Camp" over a four-week period in January and February, work as interns for 10-12 hours per week over 12-13 weeks, and meet on ten Fridays for two hours of further instruction, learning, and reflection. Field trip events, such as attending art exhibits and performances, are integral to the program and are part of  Boot Camp and Friday activities. Participants receive MetroCards throughout the program, to ensure that transportation is never an obstacle to participation. In addition, they receive a stipend along with Financial Literacy instruction, to introduce and promote sound money management habits.
